The extraordinary accordion and bandoneon virtuoso Stéphane Chapuis has lost his life to a malignant illness.

He performed across a large range of music, from classical to jazz, to tango, to klezmer, and above all to roots music. He was engaged by many orchestras and taught at the Tibor Varga Music Academy in Sion.

May he rest in peace.

  • Heartbroken about the loss of my precious friend and colleague STEPHANE CHAPUIS, with whom I performed, toured and recorded in the ensemble Quinteto del Fuego, and separately, collaborated together for upcoming violin & accordion duo programs which were scheduled to be recorded for 2 CD albums. Stephane was a stellar virtuoso, a beautiful human being, the father of 5 young children, a gentle soul… This is a tremendous loss for all who knew him! Rest in peace!

Thank you very much for mentioning this, Norman. We work together in Sion and I did not know he had passed. A really nice guy and great musician.
