He looks horrid in that picture: 3/4 dead.
Really made me laugh! Thank God for the British sense of humour that others across any strip of water from England just don’t get! Hurray, hurray, hurray! Thanks Norman.
Thanks for this . It started my day on a smile.
Sorry Norman, Sir Mark Elder got there before you in a recent BBC broadcast.
It’s viral media. You pass it on, even if you didn’t discover it first.
I’ve always loved Noel Coward, and this clip is great! Thanks, Norman!
fflambeau is right: the picture of him is not a good one. But I myself have never seen a good picture of Coward…. he must have been unphotogenic. (I have a cousin who is unphotogenic – she is absolutely gorgeous, but when she sees a camera she freaks out, and her face stiffens and morphs into that of Bette Davis in a bad mood.)
Remember Sir Noel in Graham Greene’s flick “Our Man inHavana”?
Admired Swiss tenor Hugues Cuenod debuted in a Coward musical, and recorded a baritonal spiritual before moving on with Doda Conrad to Nadia Boulanger’s Monteverdi revival and Couperin le Grand’s “Lecons de Tenebris”, marked out by Schoenberg, Klemperer, and Stravinsky, who wrote a role for him in “Rake’s Progress” ijai he premiered with Schwarzkopf and Stravinsky at La Scala, where everyone got lost at least once. There’s a reccording.
