Esther Abrami, a London-based French violinist has to keep her cat in a pouch while she plays.

She explains: This kitten was abandoned but thankfully rescued by the cat shelter Association Féli-Cité. As a host family I took care of her for the past week.

When she arrived she was less than 400 grams, scared and had breathing issues from having stayed outside for several days.

I’m happy to say that after 7 days of milk bottles and constant cuddles Rémila has now become one of the friendliest cats I’ve ever seen. She follows me absolutely everywhere around the house and refuses to be left alone on the floor. She is always either on my lap or in her little bag around my waist!

Thanks for this essential news concerning the music world . Please some Lola Astanova now!!!

  • Mike says:

Are we now reporting news on Instagram violinist, The Great Esther Abrami? What’s next, models on Facebook?
    The kitten is cute.

    • Arthur says:

Indeed, please no more promotion of these “Instagram musicians” whose only accomplishment is their ability to post regularly, often with a lifted ‘inspirational’ quote or some other empty social media trend. That these frauds end up with more followers than most real musicians is one of the hollow dangers and shame of social media.

Arthur, I agree with you and identify with your frustration. Instagram et al., is often devisive. A little smaltze for the upvotes is, however, a comfort to someone no matter how manipulative or cynical the post. Are we so insecure as to assess our self worth based on how many followers we have? Yes. Many a person is, and those with less or no followers are often bullied, and worse! Nonetheless, the kitten is just that, a cute kitten 🙂 Even though I could not be within a mile of one, preferring to breathe 🙂 Mr Lebrecht, I hope you do not mind this inclusion, its disribution is encouraged by its ‘creator’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=He3IJJhFy-I

Maybe something about Olga D next? I wonder what’s going on with her.

  • Brettermeier says:

Good to know that there’s not just bad news out there. Thank you.

  • Monty says:

Human urine keeps cats from shitting in your garden! It really works, only trouble is your lottie then smells like the gents at Waterloo station.

  • Bruce says:

    That is adorable.

  • Chipper says:

The adorable kitten is clearly in love with Esther and her music. I hope this will become what is known in the animal rescue world as a foster failure!
Thanks for posting this lovely video!

this story is a little frothy. If one wants the profound salves and answers, N.L., provides insights into Beethoven, as well as providing froth 🙂 Balance! What is so wrong that we cannot show some Humanity? Those little gestures of kindness amidst all the self-serving, egrigious virtue signalling from some persons here and elswhere. No, not you: Giora, nor you: Mike.
There remain major injustices in this world. Art is meant to elevate, uplift, make us think about how to salve (sic) all this sorrow.. Let us not forget that which was created in the most terrible circumstances (In Terezin, they remembered their Humanity and played and sang! Even the children). Would you rather see a fluffy little kitten, or a mutilated corpse! If the slightest kindness can raise a smile during these times, which helps us to face the bigger things; we are perhaps reminded of what we might be losing 🙂 “Only connect” I await being accused of spreading hate……..or of being self righteous HA!

Thank God it wasn’t a Violist!!!

  • Ricardo says:

For what it’s worth, she is a decent player so, give her a break.

  • Dave says:

The cat is so cute!! Since when do people here complain about how relevant the articles covered on this blog are to music? Clearly this is a personal blog far from being neutral or academically rigorous.
