Frankfurt reopens with 600 seats

The audience has been reduced to 600. Among early attractions are Valery Gergiev with the Munich Philharmonic.
The Hamburg Symphony is playing all over town in parks and gardens until its hall is ready for occupation next month.
Germany is getting back to business. Britain and the US are not.
The outdoor concerts presented by the Hamburg Symphony (Hamburg’s third orchestra, after the NDR (Gilbert) and the Philharmoniker (Nagano) are chamber music concerts that last a half hour. I’m not sure these dalliances should be held up as an example of normal – let alone noteworthy – concert activity.
Couldn’t agree with you more. Just don’t want to see cut down Rheingold in a car park or Traviata in a disused factory with piano, and everyone around socially distancing and gagged in a mask, or looking at the floor if you get too near. Each to his own.
