The Armenian conductor Ruben Gazarian has been named general music director at Altenburg-Gera, a merged theatre in Thuringia.
Gazarian, 48, was chosen from 109 candidates. He starts next month.

He may not have done any opera in “recent years” but he has conducted more than 860 concerts and recorded 26 CDs. I’d say, he’s a good catch.
