I don’t understand this post. There are two Holocaust memorial days on the calendar: the international (UN-sponsored) one on 27th January, and the Jewish one (“Yom haSho’ah”) on the 27th of Nissan (was 20-21 April this year). Tish’a b’Av is a religious commemoration, primarily of the two destructions of Jerusalem in 586 BCE and 70 CE, and the subsequent exiles. Anything else is an add-on, however appropriate and meaningful.
I would also be interested in knowing what the link is between Tisha b’Av and the partisans. In any case, thanks for the beautiful selections. Cohen’s adaptation of Anna Marly’s La complainte du partisan has haunted me most of my life.
