The last time Rafael Todes’s family gave a concert for their street, someone called the cops.

Yesterday, all was cool.

  • Ruben Greenberg says:

If I had called the cops, it would have been to introduce them to the beauty of string quartet playing, as displayed in this video.

  • Henry williams says:

    Very pleasent

  • Dennis says:

And no Corona Muzzles either! Bless them. An oasis of sanity amidst the madness destroying the world.

    • Nick says:

I just wonder, who might have NOT liked your post, Denis, and why!?!? Everything this family does is only beautiful!

      • Dennis says:

I’m sure it had noting to do with the family or their playing, and more to do with my opposition to the insane mask regime people are attempting to foist upon everyone (though I have not yet and will not wear one anywhere). Despite it being long past time to return to normal, our governor is trying to ramp up the mask regime. Evidence is clear this thing has an IFR in the range of flu, and alleged “surge” of “cases” (which is being defined, in opposition to all previous medical practice, as any positive test even if asymptomatic). It is all political at this point, about virtue signalling one’s obedience to the regime, not health.

    • Bruce says:

To be fair, members of the same household are not required to wear masks together (in the US, at least). They might very well be responsible (or sheeplike, depending on your point of view) when they go out in public.

      • Maria says:

This is London, not the US! Masks ate required in shops, supermarkets and all public transport, or confined spaces.

      • Dennis says:

I’ve seen lots of sheep running lose these days.

      • Peter San Diego says:

Well, Ms Simpson is not a family member (I think); but their being out of doors is certainly a mitigating circumstance — and consistent with UK regulations, which only require masks indoors, if I understand them correctly.

  • PHF says:

I would hate if some neighbour decided to “give me” a concert without asking. Sometimes people think everybody should listen their favorite music.

    • Maria says:

They are not ‘some neighbour’ equivalent to putting on a stereo at 2am!!! A very talented family.

  • Music Lover says:

Just lovely. Thank you. (I wish I had such neighbours…)

  • Joan Robinson says:

What a truly pleasing idea – lucky neighbours.

  • David K. Nelson says:

Very nicely done. Five fine musicians, well prepared in what just may be the best piece Mozart wrote, and a fuzzy calm dog – who could call the cops on that? People don’t call the police for leaving out the second and third movements do they?

By the way, what an interesting collection of music stands they have. And a sixth stand near the door – what was next on the program?

  • Jeremy Wardle says:

This is all very well – wealthy folk outside their West London home. They can weather the storm quite well, but there are countless musicians out there who are sufferingly grievously. A bit of al fresco Mozart won’t pay many bills

    • Bruce says:

What would you have them do, Jeremy?

    • Bruce says:

P.S. From a link on the previous post:

“The family started doing the Sunday concerts to entertain their neighbours and raise money for St Johns Hospice in London and had been streaming them online.”

A bit of al fresco Mozart might not pay many bills, but it might pay a few.

    • Maria says:

      What a low-level judgement!

  • Stephen says:

    Looks a bit like a quintet…

  • Anon says:

Ouch… Yet another video. Don’t they check it before posting?

  • Simon says:

One of my late father’s favourite piece of music thanks so much for sharing

  • Julia says:

Makes me cry to see the triumph of music over everything else. And what beautiful musicians! So lovingly played! I listened as a “neighbor” all the way from Southern California:)

  • Jen says:

    Er…a quintet surely?
