Festival goes ahead open air and without musical restrictions
mainJan Vogler’s Moritzburg Festival will go ahead next week with 26 international soloists giving open-air concerts on the north terrace of the Moritzburg Castle, near Dresden.
Lise de la Salle, Baiba Skride and Alessio Bax are among the attractions. The long-lost original version of Bohuslav Martinů’s 2nd String Quartet will receive its world premiere.
Vogler says: ‘Musicians and audiences are yearning for live concerts. The crisis-born idea of the romantic open air stage on the terrace of the Moritzburg Castle is a stroke of luck. We are looking forward to reuniting with the audience.’
The audience will observe safe distancing.
what if it rains?
As the saying goes „Du bist doch nicht aus Zucker“ (engl. It’s not like you’re made of sugar…ie. you won’t melt) 😉
In seriousness, the Moritzburg Festival states that „[i]f the concert has to be canceled due to bad weather before starting, you will get a full refund for your tickets“.

On the other hand it’s always nice to see some fuss made over Martinu. By the sound of it this is going all the murky way back to 1912.
