Boston oboist overcomes ‘career-ending’ cancer

Boston Symphony Orchestra oboist Keisuke Wakao was told three years ago that he would never play again. He was facing surgery for throat cancer and the outlook was bleak.

But 30 rounds of ‘an aggressive treatment plan’ have got him playing playing again with a family ensemble and there is hope once more that he might return to the orchestra. Read here.
