I can honestly say I have never heard ‘Albatross’ busked! Its all about the atmosphere and Green’s very spare soloing – not at all a jolly strummy sort of busker’s tune – or have I been missing something?
So you open the topic Classical against Pop? OMG, you have no idea what music is about! You judge his music though never listened to it? Well, his music touches, can make you cry, can heal, rings people together. that is what music is about. Maybe you feel that with conposers like Stockhausen or other contemporary composers; I don’t! Most of the contemporary composers won’t be heard any more in 50 years, because their music doesn’t touch the heart! Why do we still listen to Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and other great composers? Not because their music is so difficult to play or so modern, but just because it tpuches our heart! And the same does the music of Peter Green. May he rest in peace!

He clearly says that he has never heard Albatross BUSKED. Neither have I.

When I do that, wine is usually to blame, coupled with accidental exposure to Stockhausen.
I remember this very well.
Has anyone noticed the absence, or virtual absence, of pop/rock instrumental music these days? There seems to be little interest in, or understanding of, music that isn’t fronted by a celebrity singer. And I”m not talking about the middle-of-the-road stuff like André Rieu.
When people hear a movement from a symphony and ask “what was that song?”, I can’t help feeling that they’re missing something.
A great musician has gone. He played the Blues from the bottom of his heart and his music touched generations. He was the mastermind of Fleetwood Mac composing so wonderful songs like Man of the World, Oh Well, Black Magic Woman, Albatros. One of the greatest composers of the 20th century has gone, but his music will live forever, and will still be heard when most of the music of composers of the 20th century is forgotten.
Mick Fleetwood said he was a great guitar player.
