  • Great news. And the VPO will play Mahler, Bruckner, Beethoven’s 9 – not really imaginative, but a highly enjoyable snub to the doomsayers announcing that we would only hear small orchestral formations forever.

  • I’d like to see Mallwitz’ Così fan Tutte. She’s awesome. Too bad it’s in A*stra. I’ll never go there again.

    • 😀

You may frown upon me for never going to A*stria again. But that doesn’t change the fact that Mallwitz is a great conductor.

  • Easy when the distancing is only 1 metre apart not two as per the whole British Isles. Makes anything viable just plain impossible.

  • It should also be said that this is the official 100th anniversary of Salzburger Festspiele (premiere of Jedermann in 1920).

However, the first opera of the festival was performed in 1922 – conducted by Richard Strauss.

It was neither Così fan tutte nor Elektra.
