Parma puts on Rigoletto in a park

The Teatro Regio of Parma, Verdi’s town, has transferred its Rigoletto to the open air, opening next week.

 

Cast details here. I love it that the lighting designer is called Fiammetta, ‘little flame’.

    Interesting that it is being done with Soloists, but without a Chorale/Chorus.

    Why are country house opera venues not doing some of it al fresco, on temporary stages, to hold on to at least some of their receipts?
