The international conductor Cristian Măcelaru has signed up for Interlochen’s virtual arts camp, held from June 28 to July 19.

Măcelaru is Chief Conductor of the WDR Sinfonieorchester, Music Director of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, and Music Director Designate of the Orchestre National de France.’Cristi has an uncanny ability to energize and inspire our emerging young musicians,’ said Trey Devey, President of Interlochen Center for the Arts. ‘We are grateful for his leadership and thrilled that he will join us for Interlochen Online this summer.’

‘Interlochen set me on the path to create a life in the arts,’ Măcelaru said. ‘It is a privilege to be able to help inspire the next generation of artists to follow their dreams and fulfill their potential, especially during this challenging time.’

It costs $66,875 to attend Interlochen for the regular year, and the senior year is more at $71,300.

And these are the costs for the summer camp:

    1 week (Institute) $1,575
    2 week session $4,000
    3 week session $6,100
    4 week session $6,900
    6 week session $9,600

And of course, that’s why it’s important to put a black child on the poster and make a lot of misleading hoopla about scholarships and such. We wouldn’t want to leave the impression that exclusive private camps and schools are something for better off whites.

What will be conducted? I wasn’t aware anyone had solved the Zoom and Skype time lag problem. The lag and network interference makes any type of live online collaboration far less than satisfying on the common platforms most people can access. Record single lines that will be mixed?

Anyone know of a fix that allows remote players to play together in real time?
