Dominik Deuber, ousted earlier this year in an internal upheaval after 12 years as head of the Lucerne Festival Academy, has been named executive and artistic director of the Musikkollegium Winterthur.

Lucerne has clamped down on its turmoil. What goes in Switzerland, stays in Switzerland.

Our agency’s staff only dealt with Mr. Deuber one time, in 2013. We were not terribly impressed, as he seemed too sure of himself and rather arrogant and condescending to my assistant. Perhaps he has grown up since then, but we were all quite astonished that he brought his fight with the management in Lucerne out into the public arena, not something that one should do as a general rule and not very representative of Swiss discretion.

    • Schneebart says:

Airing your grievances in this manner shows you to have no great command of discretion or professionalism, either.

That does not make any sense. I don’t think the person who commented was airing any grievance, but just making an observation based on previous postings on this site about the guy being “ousted” from Lucerne where apparently he had big problems. I don’t know who he is, never heard of him and never even heard about this small orchestra Musikkollegium Winterthur. I do agree that it is really very bad character sign if a person makes their professional arguments with their boss public as this guy supposedly did. So I could believe that he is arrogant or maybe he has an anger management problem.
