  • A B says:

A very nice man. I worked with him at Juilliard and the youthful energy I remember makes me surprised that he was this this old. I will remember him fondly.

  • Steven Frucht says:

A wonderful cellist, artist, teacher, and a true mensch. A role model for devotion to music, to helping others to improve, and to the beauty and value of music and compassion.

  • Inbal Segev says:

I also knew Andre from Juilliard and Mensch is the best word to describe him.
Lovely men dedicated to music. RIP.

  • Chazz says:

I didn’t know about his health issues. Sad news, regardless.

As I recall, he was in the Cleveland Orchestra during and after Lynn Harrell’s years, and played extensively with Harrell at the Cleveland Institute and other venues.

He was a wonderful musician and a lovely person, as others have already stated.

    RIP.

  • Steve Cho says:

Mr. E was a man of amazing intellect, musicianship, generosity, and humor. He was a champion of new and neglected music, helping bring many amazing new works to light and life through his tireless advocacy.

I had the wonderful good fortune to study cello with him at Juilliard, but in the end I think it’s the lessons on life I learned from him which have been even more valuable.
