The tenor has posted on Facebook:

The pandemic which has shaken the world has also affected – albeit mildly – me and certain members of my family.

Out of respect for those for whom contracting the virus has had more serious consequences, I decided it would be best not to share the news. I certainly didn’t want to unnecessarily alarm my fans and also wished to protect my family’s privacy.

We were fortunate enough to have a swift and full recovery by the end of March.
Given the chance to donate blood to help find a cure for Covid, my response was an immediate “yes”. A modest — but fundamental — gesture, through which I am playing my small part.

Andrea

He told reporters who converged on his home:

We got over the disease very well, even though I unfortunately had to cancel many concerts and it was a bad experience. It was like living a nightmare because I felt like I was no longer in control. I was hoping to wake up anytime soon

He survived :(… oh well, you can’t win them all

So do you wish death on all singers whose singing you don’t like? Or just the successful ones?

  • Leo Doherty says:

Great news about recovery given it can be a nasty virus. Best wishes to Andrea and his family

Is this really of any great interest?

Thank you Andrea for sharing. I know of other celebrities that had it. And I think that the more of them share how bad this evil virus is the more people will listen and use masks and be smarter and safer.

  • Peter says:

Well… he did not cancel his concerts because he had Coronavirus, the concerts were all cancelled because of the pandemic… Like everywhere in the world.
He was supposedly ill in March but sometime before mid-March he was attempting to fly with his private jet (stopped on ground) to a (cancelled) concert.
How long does immunity last after the infection? 6 months? Too little for his stadium concerts to resume, speaking of… it may take many many years until people will be allowed to gather in such huge places..
Why announce now that you had it? Isn’t family privacy or respect for the others as important as it was when he was ill?
    Cheers

    Dreadful singer….
