Brilliant news – one of the nicest and most talented soloists in the business.

Claron’s audition with me in 1988 was the shortest I’ve ever done. I’d heard that there was a wonderful soprano soloist newly arrived on the European baroque scene: we arranged to meet in Utrecht.

Claron sang the first phrase of her first aria, gloriously.
    I stopped her.
“That’s completely wonderful. I don’t need to hear another note. Would you like to record Galatea in Handel’s “Acis and Galatea?”.
    Pause.
    “Sure”.
    “You’ve got the job”.

We’d allowed an hour, so we spent the remaining 59 minutes singing everything that came into Claron’s and my mind. After that first concert and recording project we toured in Europe, South America, the Far East, and we’ve remained friends ever since.

And now SD has brought the best news that’s come my way all week. Brava, Claron!

I was a high school mate of clarion McFadden in Rochester NY at Bishop Kearney High. We were in plays together. Everyone who was involved in the theater new Claron was a special talent and when she would perform the auditorium would stop with amazing silence to hear claron sing. Even back then we new great thing would come her way when it came to her talent. Congrats Claron, you make us proud to have work with you. I will never forget Tuptin in the King And I.. keep on making your mark in the world..Joe Alvarez
