The Manchester music school, recovering from a long tail of sexual abuse, has appointed two joint principals from September.

They are Tom Redmond, current Director of Music and Artistic Director, and Nicola Smith, the current Vice Principal.

They succeed the retiring Alun Jones who did a pretty good job in cleaning the Augean stables.

But come next year they will have to face the IICSA report into past abuse. It will not be pretty.

More here.

  • The View from America says:

Being the cleanup crew is never much fun. Have you seen hotel ballroom bathrooms after a New Year’s Eve party?

  • will says:

Is this the same Tom Redmond who is a BBC ‘presenter’ (very good, much better than several babbling non-entities who get more air time than Mr Redmond) and who used to be a member of the Hallé orchestra?

    • Bass One says:

      Yes. Horn player.

      • will says:

        Former horn player more likely

        • Anon says:

Yes. At last a proper musician, who has earned their living by playing and producing the dots heading up an excellent musical institution, rather than an academic who hasn’t a clue! Unfortunately, this is so often the case with British music establishments and orchestras.
