The Jewish Chronicle, ‘organ of Anglo-Jewry’ (est. 1741), which has been in the hands of liquidators for the past three weeks, has been bought out by a consortium of well-intentioned investors after the collapse of a proposed merger with a Jewish freesheet.

The editor, Stephen Pollard, has been restored to his green eyeshade. The birds outside are singing klezmer.

Read the takeover notice here.

Personal interest: I am writing a Pepsyian plague column in the JC for the duration of Covid-19.

    Fantastic news!!

  • Ron Swanson says:

Has Stephen Pollard been fully reinstated as editor or does he have the editor at large title that was purposed at one point.

  • Steven Holloway says:

That Pollard attended the John Lyon School bolsters my notion that he is the son of Anthony Pollard, the pre-Haymarket editor of Gramophone Magazine. (AP lived in Stanmore, a neighbour of friends of mine, and John Lyon is in Harrow on the Hill, an easy little journey away.)

    Take the Pepsy challenge!
