Boutique agency Primo Artists has taken on the North and South America representation of James Gaffigan, chief conductor of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester.

Gaffigan, 40, is a Yank, but you wouldn’t know it from how little he’s been seen in the States.

That should change now.

He has been seen in the states A LOT!

    • No wonder says:

And he’s been excellent for orchestral and opera rep. He’s probably switching to them since he got the cold shoulder for the Music Director positions at both San Francisco Opera AND Lyric Opera in Chicago. Chicago, at least, should have been in the bag for him…

  • drummerman says:

If memory serves, he had a major success guest conducting the New York Philharmonic a while ago.

  • Pavel says:

Sincerely Gaffigan is just a time beater without much musical depth, truly an overrated conductor. Chicago Lyric and SF Opera chose the better candidates than Gaffigan

    • RW2013 says:

No matter how bad you think he is, do you REALLY think she is any better?!

      • Simon says:

Mediocre is the many people’s opinion about James Gaffigan at best. Early on in his career he had Nick Mathias and Linda Marder who are two of the best artist managers in the planet as his agents. Thanks to Nick and Linda he got much where he is today. Unfortunately personal ambition turned to the break of these relationships. If he thinks having Celia Wilis and Charlotte Lee is the way to resurrect his mischance from getting good jobs then I can only wish him good luck!

  • NYMike says:

Heard him conduct @ Juilliard some time ago. He was excellent.
