Hungary’s highest honour goes to pianist
mainThe vaunted Kossuth Prize, the supreme award in the Hungarian cultural sector, has been given this year to the pianist Dénes Várjon, a regular recital partner of Steven Isserlis, Tabea Zimmermann, Kim Kashkashian, Jörg Widmann, Leonidas Kavakos, András Schiff , Heinz Holliger, Miklós Perényi and Joshua Bell.
Várjon, 52, teaches at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest.
