All large concert halls, opera houses and theatres in Berlin have been shut until April 19 – a week after Easter – on the order of the city’s culture senator, Klaus Lederer.

The Staatsoper Unter den Linden has put out this statement:

With the aim of inhibiting the dynamic spread of the corona virus, Dr. Klaus Lederer, Senator for Culture, announced today that all the planned events in the public theatres, operas and concert halls with a capacity of over 500 people can no longer take place from tomorrow the 11th March until the 19th April 2020.
We therefore regret to inform you that due to this, the performances of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden must be cancelled during the above-mentioned period.
Already purchased tickets will of course be refunded. We will inform our visitors about the modalities tomorrow by e-mail and on our website. We kindly ask for your understanding!
A decision on the possibility of an alternative digital programme and events in the smaller venues will be made in the next few days.
Stay safe and healthy! We hope to see you soon.

Bleibt gesund!

There has been no announcement yet from the Philharmonie or other houses. UPDATE: They confirmed 18 hours later.
