Jan Vogler, the cellist who runs Dresden’s music festival, has engaged the rock legend Sting as the closing act for this year’s fest.

It could be John Dowland, it could be tantric sex. Either way, it’ll be new to Dresden.

Vogler’s contract has been renewed to 2026.

Well, why not? I is principally classical, but there is jazz, world music, Gypsy music and some other entertainments, like comedy and a novelist. So why not Sting?

Indeed, and I have a soft spot for the recording of Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale featuring Ian McKellan, Vanessa Redgrave, and Sting.

There’s a good version of Peter & The Wolf, too, with Abbado/ Ch. Orch. of Europe. (I’m still partial to the old recording of the young Sean Connery though 🙂 )

  • Scott says:

    Hopefully Jennifer Lopez next year!
