Just in: Paris cancels ‘at least 3’ new productions
mainStéphane Lissner, director of the Paris Opéra, has said he will have to make extreme cutbacks to the coming seasons in order to overcome the 16 million Euros lost so far in current strikes.
So far, he has cancelled ‘at least 3’ productions for next season and he is looking for further reductions.
Meanwhile, the strikes continue.
What are the Opera’s continuing expenses? Is there a large staff other than the strikers who continue to be paid?
Everybody continues to be paid ! They all have their month wages, the only thing the strikers lose is the extra money they received for the performances.
