The orchestra has just rolled out its 20/21 season. Among the highlights:

Next season, the Concertgebouworkest will be placing a strong emphasis on home-grown music. It will be performing three works by the Dutch composer Alphons Diepenbrock, who died in 1921. The orchestra will also be paying tribute to Theo Verbey, who recently passed away. Finally, Christiaan Richter has written his second composition to be commissioned by the orchestra. As part of the Horizon theme Play Dutch with me, presented in collaboration with the conservatories of Amsterdam and The Hague, the orchestra is devoting a whole week exclusively to Dutch music. In addition to a number of chamber music concerts, the Concertgebouworkest – under the baton of Antony Hermus – will be performing new orchestral works by Celia Swart and Bram Kortekaas alongside compositions by Theo Loevendie, Louis Andriessen and Tristan Keuris. Harpist Remy van Kesteren, soprano Katrien Baerts and percussionist Dominique Vleeshouwers – who won the Nederlandse Muziekprijs (Dutch Music Prize) in January – are making their Concertgebouworkest debut as guest soloists.

New guest conductors include: Han-Na Chang, Nuno Coelho, Philippe Jordan, Klaus Mäkelä, Riccardo Minasi and Kristiina Poska.

The Concertgebouw Orchestra will announce it’s 20/21 season tomorrow at 10:00 AM.
But for the time being there is the Concertgebouw Het Zondagochtend Concert seizoen 2020-2021

Too bad they forgot composer Henriëtte Bosmans…

  • Patrick Gillot says:

when are they going to find a conductor?

    • They have many all year long. There s no deadline and they can go on one or two years without musical director. The winer works like this from his bigining, the Rco can do the same thing during three or four more years if it has to.

They will eventually.it’s not easy to find a zombie
who reflects the zombie symphony crowd .It takes
a certain talent for a conductor to pretend to be
forward looking while feeding on 200 year old works.Have you watched the symphony crowd ?
it’s not that they are old it’s that they are stuck in the
past.No life, no vigor .How they scurry out when faced with a new work or praise long dead conductors in yet another cycle of the 9 symphonies.

If local orchestras do not play the music of their own country, who will?

The guest conductor list, on the other hand, is not very impressive. (Compare it with the CSO, for instance, with MTT; the great Dutch conductor, Edo de Waart ;and Britain’s Thomas Adès; Israel’s Lahav Shani; the USA’s Marin Alsop and Manfred Honeck; the Greek conductor,Constantine Kitsopoulos; and, Sweden’s Herbert Blomstedt).

    • DR95497 says:

I find it really interesting that so many of the conductors, above, once directed the SF Symphony — de Waart, Blomstedt, MTT. The most beloved — MTT.
