Covent Garden has named the Spanish tenor Ismael Jordi to sing Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor this summer.

He replaces the Italian star Vittorio Grigolo (pic), who was fired for being too handy around the place.

Among other things.

  • Nijinsky says:

And the moral isn’t if you would know
six inches just really isn’t enough
    For seizure defeat uncivility
who knows what else on the Internet sir
Maybe its little boy blue and he’s north
South would be better for civility
East and West too butt now we are suevre

  • Eric says:

Jordi is almost inaudible, even by today’s standard of tiny-voiced crooners. If the orchestra plays at any volume above mezzoforte he will be eaten alive.

    • Karl says:

As long as he is PC then he can sing. Patrons may not show up, but all the snowflakes can feel safe singing to an empty house.

    • david hilton says:

That wasn’t my experience of him when I heard him as Edgardo on opening night of the Bilbao opera season in October. He was superb. Honestly, a revelation. But admittedly I was sitting close.

      • Eric says:

I heard him some years ago – I think it was Faust – and yes he is very elegant and stylish but I had to strain to hear him at all. I was in the front balcony of a not very big house (Amsterdam).

  • V.Lind says:

Chi mi frena in tal momento?

As long as it is not Grigolo!
