The Boston and Leipzig conductor has married Alice Heidler in a private ceremony in Bavaria.

The wedding took place in April and has just been confirmed.

No details have been released of the bride. An Alice Heidler is credited as the English translator of the memoirs of Andris’s agent, Hans Ulrich Schmid.

A wedding gift site exists for those wishing to donate to the preservation of the Bavarian countryside.

Andris’s first wife, the Latvian soprano Kristine Opolais, has posted pictures of herself with a new partner, a tenor at the Met.

Happy ever after.

  • Sir David Geffen-Hall says:

    I wish them luck.

Conductors are notoriously hard to live with. At home and at work.

  • RW2013 says:

If Nelsons donates an evening’s wage, then so will I.

  • Petros LInardos says:

Best wishes to the happy couple, and especially to the daughter of Nelsons and Opolais.

  • Herr Doktor says:

I believe this is Andris Nelsons’ third marriage, not his second. According to an article I read in (I believe) The Boston Globe, both he and Kristine Opolais were married to others when they met.

I wish Maestro Nelsons nothing but many years of personal happiness, and great music-making.

  • Karl says:

Let’s hope his new wife can keep all the household doors open so he doesn’t concuss himself again. ..

And can you get an updated pic? He has had a beard for a few years.

  • Joel A Stein says:

Thanks for the info-he’s been wearing a wedding band. Speaking of the BSO, does anyone know where Tamara Smirnova is? She should be the acting concertmaster, but I haven’t seen her this year.

    • D Shapiro says:

I’ve been wondering the same… she played every concert last year due to Malcom Lowe’s concussion. I’m thinking she is getting some needed rest.

Did you attend last week’s 11/2/19 concert? It belongs in the history books. Absolute perfection!

      Shostakovich 12th this week …

  • Gustavo says:

    Off to Bavaria!

He would be the natural successor of Mariss.

I hope Andris is aware what supporting BUND actually means:

    wind turbines
    wind turbines
    wind turbines
    wind turbines

    and

    wind turbines

One of the founders of BUND was a conductor – and walked away:

  • Rob says:

    The happy couple.

  • sorin says:

He does a nice show on stage but his recordings are totally boring.Even when you watch him conducting and succeed in isolating his antics from his music you realize that the resulting music is mediocre at best.

    • Karl says:

The recordings are taken from live performances. I was just there last week when the Leipzig Orchestra played Strauss and they asked us to be quiet because they were recording.

  • Aaron Herschel says:

3 marriages. Not a role model for young people.
