Maestro move: Slovaks hire Russian chief

The Slovak Philharmonic has named Daniel Raiskin at its next music director. He will succeed James Judd next summer.

Raiskin, who is additionally music director of the Winnipeg Symphony in Canada, will be performing in Bratislava this week.

    Daniel Raiskin is also Principal Guest Conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic and with Chief Conductor Gabriel Feltz, has lifted the level of Serbia’s leading orchestra considerably. The cello section is particularly good and principal Nemanja Stanković has established an impressive career as a soloist. Raiskin will be a big asset to Bratislava.

    playing.
