Dozens of singers, conductors and other opera people are posting condolences for Rodolfo Longo, a passionate opera lover, who has died after being hit by a car in Genoa.

Rodolfo was 83.

The condolences are posted here.

Sample message from Daniela Barcellona Vitiello: ‘Ciao Amico mio! Ti voglio bene.’

What makes him Italian opera’s greatest fan? That link does not appear to be functional.

The condolences are not posted “here.” That link is to his Facebook page, which has him still alive.

Very sad to hear of an old man being knocked over by a car. (Or a young one — I am still raging about Harry Dunn and the aftermath). But it would be interesting to know more about why this man was so special to music.
