Stick news: Dude fellow gets signed

IMG Artists have taken on Jonathon Heyward, whose present boss Mark Elder considers ‘a bright rising star’.

Before becoming assistant to Elder at the Halle, Heyward was a Dudamel Conudting Fellow in LA. Aged 27 and from South Carolina, Heyward has already been named chief conductor of the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie from January 2021.

IMG’s London office will manage his career worldwide.

    Dude is actually quite an impressive conductor, in spite of snobbery in Europe regarding him. His conducting technique,physically, is a carbon copy of Claudio Abbado. I prefer him over Yannick Nezet -Seguin, who seems a bit overblown. I am still trying to figure out whether the brass heavy performances I heard in Vienna from Philadelphia Orchestra was the fault of the orchestra or the conductor.
