The Norman family and the city of Augusta, Georgia, have announced plans for Jessye’s funeral, starting Thursday.

Among the artists taking part are Audra McDonald, Harolyn Blackwell, and Lawrence Brownlee.

    A life to be celebrated. On the day her death was announced someone posted to Twitter a video of her singing Im Abendrot from Strauss’ Four Last Songs. It was a perfect eulogy.
