Son of Igor Kipnis dies in heatwave
mainThe death is reported of Jeremy Kipnis, son of the popular US harpsichord and conductor Igor Kipnis, and grandson of the Metropolitan Opera bass, Alexander Kipnis.
Jeremy, a recording engineer and online producer, was 54.
He was out swimming in Lake Carmel when he suffered an apparent heart attack despite being in peak physical condition. Medical advisors say the extreme heat may have been a contributory factor.

He was not a television producer.
He was a high end home theater designer. Also a classical record producer, who founded in the 1990s a boutique audiophile classical label, Epiphany Recordings.

It was hot. Even without acceptance of climate change, places can be hot in late July.

You don’t know what you’re talking about, Patrick. Excessive heat is a risk factor for all kinds of exercise, as well as for cardiovascular disease, even for a man like Mr. Kipnis who’d recently had a clean physical. As for the epidemiology of CVD amidst rising world temperatures, an emerging line of research is alarming (see, for example https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/03/190312123645.htm).

Pertinent. Mr. Kipnis was the son and grandson of musicians known and appreciated by many of SD’s readers; and he himself had been a classical music producer.
A last note: one encounters more than a few disagreeable comments and commenters on these pages. Your ideology-driven rant rivals the worst, Patrick – ironically, for its coldness.
When grandchildren of those we’ve known grow old or depart, it gives pause. Christoph von Dohnanyi is another example. Igor Kipnis was a fine fortepiano and harpsichord player. His father Alexander Kipnis was the best Boris Godunov I’ve ever heard.
