  • Sure there’s a resemblance. What it proves is that he has a sense of humour, rather like his wonderful old Dad!

  • Russia is a stew of ethnicities, and Russian names that end with the “in” suffix usually denote a Uralic background, if a distant one. Of course, the various groups are intermingled and spread far and wide, though sometimes faces from long ago seem to appear. So it is not surprising that Putin and Järvi resemble each other, as ethic Estonians are Finnic and thus distantly Uralic. Compare Putin’s looks to Rimsky-Korsakov’s, who was just about the archetypical Slavic Russian.
