Send lifeboats and CPR to Sony Classical.

  • Prix D'Excellence says:

She certainly won’t need any flotation aids. She’s got those already !!

  • Caravaggio says:

Going from worse to worst. What is left of a once reputable record label also has Olga Peretyatko, after all.

  • Pianofortissimo says:

If she’s a witch, she will float.

  • Larry W says:

She and Hilary Hahn should go swimming in their concert gowns to make the ultimate Water Music. Or the Trout.

  • DeepSouthSenior says:

Not to worry. I’ve seen lots of her videos. She’ll float.

  • Ned Keene says:

Awful woman. Plays fund-raisers for Ukrainian Azov far-right terror groups. Leave her in the pond.

    • Oleg says:

Far-right what, fuhrer-putin-fan??? Azov? Special Operations Detachment “Azov”, often known as Azov Battalion, is a Ukrainian National Guard regiment, based in Mariupol in the Azov Sea coastal region. It saw its first combat experience recapturing Mariupol from pro-Russian separatists forces and Russian regulars in June 2014

    • Nick says:

She is awful indeed but not because she plays fundraisers for the people you hate, but simply because she herself is tasteless, vulgar and has no class. Most of her talent is located below neck!!

      • Ned Keene says:

It’s an interesting distinction, Nick. Personally, I believe that anyone who funds a White Supremacist military force of irregulars, who shell women, children, and pensioners in their own homes is a truly awful person. Genocide cannot be atoned by any Schubert sonatas.

There are lots of mediocre pianists, and probably a few of them have big tits, too. That doesn’t make them awful people, although it might make their recitals rather grim. Yet faced with the choice of a dismal performance of Schubert, or being bombed in my own home by Neonazis in black balaclavas, I would probably take the substandard Schubert.

  • Niels Muus says:

    To late……

  • Ozan says:

This album design, also Carolyn Sampson’s ‘Reason in Madness’ album design (and your ‘send lifeboats’ quote obviously) are all taken from Kate Bush’s Before The Dawn stage show, itself a reworking of her Hounds of Love album imagery. In an age of limitless copyright infringement, it seems necessary to report…

  • msc says:

An Ophelia image for some reason? I cannot see a connection to the music.

  • David K. Nelson says:

Too late for lifeboats or CPR, looks to me. A disturbing blend of Delaroche’s La Jeune Martyre and Millais’s Ophelia. I doubt if Sony intended to suggest the music drove her mad, or that she martyred herself trying to play Schubert.

  • brian says:

    D. 960 is not a pond, it’s an ocean.

  • Fliszt says:

Even God couldn’t save Sony Classical. With Serkin’s & Perahia’s Schubert recordings in their catalog, they should have known better than to entrust Khatia with this repertoire. This demonstrates not only their ignorance (a common trait in this industry), but also just how low they will go to make a buck.

  • ThrownOutOfTheKremlinForSinging says:

From PG Wodehouse’s novel UNCLE DYNAMITE:

“It’s with ref. to this aggravated assault, sir.”

    –“What aggravated assault?”

“The one I’m telling you about, sir. I was assaulted by the duck pond.”

The suspicion that the speaker had been drinking grew in Sir Aylmer’s mind.

–“By the duck pond?”, he echoed, his eyes widening.

    “Yes, sir.”

–“How the devil can you be assaulted by a duck pond?”

  • Robert Groen says:

I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve heard the disc. As to her politics, she’s a young Georgian who, I imagine, believes what she’s told.

  • Jaime Herrera says:

I’m not convinced that’s Khatia in the cover photo. She would never stoop that low…..

  • Ed says:

    Is she still sleeping?

  • Bill says:

This site is just a place for old men to rant about female musicians having breasts.

  • Paremj says:

Fortunately for those looking for a recent recording of D960 we have Hamelin’s superb performance.

  • Bobbie says:

Katia scheduled a concert last season on the eve of Passover. No idea about her ability but she was not very sensitive.
