Is “release” the right word? Release makes me think they were “laid off.”
“Releases” implies they were fired (at least on my side of the pond). Looks like they just retiring after very long tenures.

First time I’ve seen retirement referred to as being “released”, though having recently retired I can’t gainsay the connotations.
