Brazil has been lead by a right-wing, Trump-like dictator for a few months now. He’s driving the country into a ditch. The arts are amongst the first wave of budget cuts but are not the only ones for human needs.

From the linked article, this ominous statement (translated) which indicates that musicians have not been paid for past work:

“Malheiro says that he has tried to solve the situation by proposing the hiring of artists for long periods, “since public competition at the moment is out of the question.” Your request, account, has been ignored. “Even if you hire quality musicians for a concert, OSTM has found it difficult, since Theatro enjoys bad reputation as a bad payer,” the statement said, noting that “there are debts with musicians who participated in programming in 2017 and that until now have not received “.

This Maestro did the right thing.
