Death of a label founder, 92
mainThe family has announced the death today of Friedrich Hänssler, founder of an eponymous classical label which was part of his family’s wider empire of Christian publishing.
Among the label’s triumphs was a 172-CD Johann Sebastian Bach edition.
Friedrich’s memoirs were titled ‘A Life for the Gospel’.
Another hero to music lovers. I’ve enjoyed so many recordings on that label. The Bach Edition is wonderful, but I still haven’t listened to it all. I was totally unaware of his Christian evangelizing, a rare thing nowadays. RIP.
