The big box lands in September.

  • Mustafa Kandan says:

Looking forward to that. My favourite pianist of the younger generation.

  • Caravaggio says:

Great news. I also have great affection for Paul Lewis and Russell Sherman’s 32.

  • Mike Schachter says:

For very large doors or castle gates there is always the complete Bach set.

  • Tommy says:

The late sonatas (28-32) are already released 3-4 years ago. So the remaining sonatas (only) come in a box? A chance to buy the last four then – one more time…

  • J. says:

Are the 109-110-111 the same recordings he did a few years ago or he re-recorded them?

  • Karen says:

Yes, that’s what we need. A Beethoven sonata cycle from a 32-year-old. What’s next? Is Sony planning for a complete Schubert sonatas box set from Buniatishvili too?

Levit seems to have Passacaglia on DSCH in his repertoire. Why doesn’t Sony record that instead?

    • Fliszt says:

Are you equating Buniatishvili with Levit???

      • Christopher Storey says:

Why not, Fliszt ? They are both equally most definitely not to my taste

      • Karen says:

I’ve heard equally disastrous live performances from both, and some nice ones from both as well. Stripping away the vast difference in their “image” and the quality of their live performances aren’t that dissimilar IMO. But Levit has a much more interesting repertoire and his studio recordings are well worth listening to.

    • Tamino says:

They recorded his Rszewski, so stop complaining.

  • Robert Roy says:

Daniel Barenboim was very young when he recorded his first set of the Beethoven Sonatas for EMI. Anyway, no-one’s forcing you to buy them or even to listen to them.

    • Pianofortissimo says:

Friedrich Gulda was only 21 when he recorded his fisrt of three complete Beethoven cycles for the Austrian Radio.

  • stefan says:

again a set of Beethoven sonatas..and there are already 1.482.334 other sets….

  • Ludwig van Beethoven says:

    🙂
