I still remember him when he was Artist-in-Residence at the University of Wisconsin in Madison in the 1960s. Also played oboe in Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with Otto-Werner Mueller conducting. Great memories of this man.

At 186, they ought to be the eldest ever piano duo!

  • Petros Linardos says:

What an inspiration! If only Leon Fleischer and Jörg Demus could join them: they could then play Smetana’s lovely Sonata for two-pianos, eight hands.

  • Sue Sonata Form says:

Absolutely wonderful!! Wish I was there right now.

  • Cyril says:

This is wonderful. Many more years for each of them, I hope.

One of my fave Beethoven players.
Go get ’em, Paul baby !!!

I saw and heard Paul Badura-Skoda perform many years ago when he was an artist in residence at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was amazing then, and probably more so now. It’s great to see he’s still so active.

  • Emanuele Passerini says:

his Beethoven & Schubert Sonatas on fortepianos from his personal collection are amazing things !

  • So happy for my friend Paul !!, with whom I got the chance to perform with 3 years ago in Maastricht at 4 hands.

  • Jack says:

It’s also worth noting that Paul’s wife, the eminent musicologist Dr. Eva Badura, with whom he has collaborated in numerous scholarly endeavors, is also still with us, and with Paul, at age 90.
