Death of NYPL’s music division chief, 92
mainJean Bowen Bloch, influential chief of the Music Division of New York Public Library, died at her home in Washington, DC, this weekend at the age of 92. At the New York Public Library she was head of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Archives of Recorded Sound, Chief of the Music Division, and finally Director of the Central Research Library at Fifth Ave. and 42nd St.
It’s a great resource. Let’s applaud her distinguished life and work.
Does anyone know if the Rogers and Hammerstein archives were moved to the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in Lincoln Center or are they still in the main research branch on 5th Avenue and 42nd Street?
