  • Sue Sonata Form says:

Nice to see Argerich showing support for her ex-husband. And what a great line-up of talent at that festival!

  • Mick the Knife says:

Her loyalty is atypical and to be commended.

  • Petros Linardos says:

Mostly very impressive line up of soloists. What happened to the retirement of the great Maria João Pires?

    • fflambeau says:

Petros, Good question. I gather that “retirement” means different things to different people. Pires is an exceptional pianist.

      • Manu says:

Maria Joao Pires is very active, she plays solo recitals in Spain in main towns and she has even created her own festival. There is a world outside of the main circuits. She did not retire at all it was just an excuse to leave Askonas Holt.

    • Bruce says:

I got the impression she was only going to stop the touring/ travelling thing, not stop performing altogether.

  • LM says:

there will be quite a few other musicians at the festival 😉

  • Mark says:

Good for Martha Argerich ! Not just a great musician, but a loyal friend not prepared to bow to the latest PC fad.

  • Caravaggio says:

I have great admiration for Argerich but I think she is starting to lose her judgement in her advancing years. Two names immediately jump out from that lineup: Buniatishvili (!) and her ex.
