Sicklist: Juilliard China star is felled by appendicitis
mainThe Chinese pianist Zhang Zuo has cancelled engagements due to appendicitis, for which she is receiving treatment in China.
Zhang Zuo, 30, , sometimes billed as ‘Zee Zee’, is winner of the 1st International Piano Competition in China, the Gina Bachauer in the US, the Krainev International Piano Competition in Ukraine, and Juilliard’s 32nd annual William Petschek Piano Recital Award.
“Winner”–I love that word because it’s an all-time favourite with pianists in their website or CD biographies when they get any prize at all, or even reach the final. “Laureate” is the other evergreen. Nonetheless all the best for a speedy recovery.
