The conductor Jean Périsson died on February 18 at the age of 94.

He worked with two of the great opera directors,  Jean-Pierre Ponnelle and Patrice Chereau, on major productions in Paris and Vienna.

From 1965 to 1970 he was artistic director of the Paris Opéra.

    A charming , distinguished musical gentleman. I met him a couple of times in the early 1990s. He had an apartment in the town of Nantes, West France at the time. He had a long and artistically satisfying life and career. May he rest in peace.
