He sang French chanson, but was basically a singer of the Classical repertoire and a fine, sought-after teacher. Rest in peace.
He was a wonderful singer and made many fine recordings. RIP
Dunno what you mean with “French chanson”, Norman, we rather call it “mélodie française” (French art song). But J.C. Benoît also appeared as Sacristan opposite Callas’ Tosca (he used to recall the Divina glaring at him on stage…)
