Matthew Savery has resigned as music director of the Bozeman Symphony, in southern Montana, amid allegations of staff bullying and harassment.

He was due to celebrate 25 years in the post later this year.

 

Andrés Orozco-Estrada has cancelled next weekend’s concerts due to illness.

So Joshua Weilerstein will make his Philadelphia Orchestra debut.

The program will include Brahms’s Symphony No. 3 and Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 2, featuring Principal Clarinet Ricardo Morales, as previously scheduled. Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte for string orchestra, in its Philadelphia Orchestra premiere, replaces Janáček’s Taras Bulba.

 

Two reports in the Volkskrant newspaper reveal discomfort among the musicians at last year’s sacking of Daniele Gatti. Among other confessions: three months after his dismissal, 26 out of 118 musicians sent the conductor a solidarity email.

Marek Janowski, born in Warsaw on February 18, 1939, is on tour this week with the WDR Symphony.

Later this year, he becomes chief conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic.
