Sylvain Fort has resigned as President Macron’s director of communications for ‘personal reasons’ and to ‘spend more time with his children’. He has been in the job for three years and will leave next week.

Sylvain Fort is a musician, founder of the website forumopera.com.

Shame. There are few enough culturally adept people in French politics and Sylvain Fort is widely credited with sparing the opera-going public another six years of Stéphane Lissner. Maybe he’s lining himself up as a possible successor…

    • John Borstlap says:

The ‘personal reasons’ are quite understandable. It must be rather unpleasant to be part of a government which is continuously in the fireline of aggressive mobs.

  • Doug says:

“…to spend more time with his children…” before the people of France rise up and dull the guillotine blades from overuse. They’ve had their fill of global elitists dictating to the “little [deplorables] people” on how they should live.

  • John Borstlap says:

According to that website, it was not Fort who founded it, but Camille de Rijck:

    • Testi says:

Yep, Sylvain Fort was more a writer and “head” than a founder of Forum Opera. Also, I don’t believe he ever was a “musician”. More a litterature man (Latin, Greek…), translator (from German) and biographer (mainly Puccini).
He was also a strong Opera freak, quite influencial regarding some (but far from every) Mr Macron’s music politics. Declared ennemy of Mr Lissner, ruler of the Opéra National de Paris till 2022.

  • Quintus Beckmesser says:

I once posted on a forum praise for Geraint Evans’s Leporello in a live recording from Covent Garden. I received a very petulant, insulting reply – insulting to me more than to Sir Geraint. So this man is no loss.
