Musicians of the Las Vegas Philharmonic have rejected the orchestra management’s ‘Last and Best
Offer’ and authorised their union to call a strike.

The musicians have been out of contract since August 1, 2018. A December meeting with a mediator from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service failed to bring the sides together.

The musicians say the are continuing to work with the mediator in search of a solution.

I’m amazed to discover that Las Vegas has an orchestra!

Sounds like a game of high-stakes poker — perfect for the locale.

  • Mary says:

A vote to authorize the union to call a strike is not at all the same thing as voting to strike. It gives the union negotiating committee a stronger hand to play as negotiations proceed, that’s all. They may call a strike, in which case they don’t have to go back to the membership at large; they may not. Please try to confine your headlines to the facts of the matter.
