Sicklist: Noseda makes snap Concertgebouw debut

Gianandrea Noseda is flying at very short notice to Amsterdam to conduct Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem tomorrow, Friday and Sunday.

He replaces conductor emeritus Mariss Jansons who ‘has had to cancel the concerts due to health reasons’.

    • Genius Olassus, please go live in any Asian country and be beaten to death by your lack of “grammatical correctness”

Then you may be able to see your post from a different perspective.

  • I predict a very good rapport with the orchestra and Noseda making it into the inner circle of new chief conductor candidates.

  • Noseda has a fine recording of the “W.R” on – I believe – the LSO LIve label. I like both his and Pappano’s. Of course, it’s extremely difficult to beat the ‘original cast’ recording with Britten himself conducting.

    • Even if you prefer another recording of the actual Requiem, the rehearsal excerpts that are available on one of the Britten conducting releases are marvellous.
