Macron’s new minister of culture wants a French BBC
mainFrançoise Nyssen resigned this week, dogged by tax accusations at her family-owned publishing house. It’s a shame. She invested heavily in music education.
Her successor Franck Riester has gone on record saying he wants to merge France Télévisions, Radio France and France Media Monde into a ‘BBC à la française.’
Immediately at risk are the radio orchestras. We hear nothing but alarm and despondency.
Well, politically they’re already there.
Françoise Nyssen did not resign, she lost the job as part of Macron’s last cabinet reshuffle.
I hope whatever happens to the orchestras that someone there knows enough to correct a left-right reversed image of the result. That would NEVER happen at the BBC. Well, hardly ever.
