A first violinist’s death prompts urgent appeal
mainThe death of Naira Cola, a violinist in the Jacksonville Symphony, Florida, is mourned by musicians across the US.
An award-winning soloist, Naira was artistic director of the Four Strings Academy in Lexington, MA, and also taught hundreds of students across the New York area.
Friends have put up a fundraiser for her grieving family.
There has been no news article about her death, following a recent concert by the Jacksonville Symphony, during which she performed in Ein Helden Leben, reportedly collapsing after she left the
stage.
The Jacksonville Symphony website has not posted any notice of her tragic death, later, at the hospital.
The silence is mystifying, as she was recognized as one of the young, up and coming members
of the orchestra, and well-liked by her colleagues.

Naira was my granddaughters violin teacher. We didn’t know about her death until we took her for her lesson. My granddaughter is heartbroken. Naira was more than just her violin teacher. They talked about everything. My granddaughter lost her mom two years ago and Naira always knew the right words to make her smile. We will surely miss her.
